In the context of expanding cross-border logistics and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China, on May 10, 2026, a delegation from Nanning City (China), led by Mayor Hou Gang, visited and worked with Saigon Port Joint Stock Company (Saigon Port) and Saigon Gateway Port Joint Stock Company (Saigon Gateway Port).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Attending the meeting on the Vietnamese side were Mr. Le Quang Trung \u2013 Deputy General Director of Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), Mr. Nguyen Le Chon Tam \u2013 General Director of Saigon Port, and Mr. Nguyen Anh Hao \u2013 Acting General Director of Saigon Gateway Port. The Nanning delegation included representatives from management agencies and businesses operating in the fields of transportation, trade, logistics, and port operations in Guangxi, including the Beibu Gulf International Port Group.<\/p>\n

Leaders of Nanning City and Beibu Gulf Port Group held discussions with representatives from VIMC, Saigon Port, and Saigon Gateway Port regarding cooperation in logistics, port connectivity, and the development of the Vietnam-China supply chain.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

During the meeting, the parties discussed potential cooperation in port operations, logistics, multimodal transport, and supply chain development between Vietnam and China. The discussions focused on the development trends of cross-border logistics in the context of Nanning's strengthening role as a hub connecting international trade between China and ASEAN, while also promoting the development of digital trade and modern logistics in the region.<\/p>\n

Delegates highly appreciated the role of Vietnam's southern port system in the regional supply chain, especially its ability to connect goods from Southwest China to international markets through deep-water ports and transshipment ports in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, issues related to logistics digitalization, improving customs clearance efficiency, developing multimodal transport, and strengthening connectivity between seaports, roads, and railways were also discussed by all parties.<\/p>\n

The delegation also expressed interest in the development direction of international transshipment ports and the potential for expanding regional logistics cooperation in the future.<\/p>\n

According to the parties involved, strengthening logistics links between Guangxi and Vietnam's southern port system will contribute to optimizing cross-border transportation chains and meeting the growing demand for trade. At the same time, this is also seen as an opportunity to expand cooperation in developing logistics infrastructure, maritime connectivity, and regional supply chains.<\/p>\n
