Working with the delegation were Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong and leaders of the city's departments and branches.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing 6 contents: Detailed planning for the development of land and water areas of seaports; draft circular announcing seaport water areas and management areas of Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Port; arranging working headquarters for Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Port Authority; connecting traffic with Cat Lai port, reviewing the current status of post-port logistics, management of depots in the area; training of crew members, inland waterway vehicle drivers and some other related contents.<\/p>\n

According to the report at the working session, Ho Chi Minh City Seaport after the merger includes the planned port areas in the City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and Binh Duong province (before the merger). Currently, the detailed planning for the development of land and water areas of Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong seaports has been approved by the Ministry of Construction. In particular, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (before the merger) has submitted a submission to the Ministry of Construction for approval.<\/p>\n

In order to maximize the potential of Cai Mep port area, meeting the goal of becoming an international gateway and transit port according to the planning, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposed the Ministry of Construction to unify the planning adjustment to extend the Gemalink port wharf line 356.9m upstream and extend the SSIT port wharf line 200m downstream to create a straight, long and continuous wharf line.<\/p>\n

Regarding the expansion of the planning area of Gemalink Port, the City People's Committee proposed that the Ministry of Construction maintain the planning boundary of Gemalink Port on the Vam Treo Gui River side according to the Detailed Planning of Seaport Group No. 4 approved by the Prime Minister to avoid affecting the Vam Treo Gui River mouth and the operation of Cai Mep Ha Port according to the planning.<\/p>\n

In case the Ministry of Construction considers expanding the land area of Gemalink port towards Cai Mep Ha port, the City recommends that the Ministry of Construction study and calculate appropriate technical criteria to avoid affecting the exploitation activities of adjacent port areas and inland waterway routes according to the planning. The implementation of the planning content must ensure the provisions of the investment law, land law and other relevant regulations.<\/p>\n

The City People's Committee also requested the Ministry of Construction to consider adjusting the total area of Vung Tau International Passenger Port to match the site plan and scale of Vung Tau International Passenger Port that was agreed upon by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (before the merger)...<\/p>\n

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang acknowledged the proposals and recommendations of the City People's Committee. At the same time, he requested that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee should soon issue a document adjusting the planning of wharf and water areas to submit to the Ministry of Construction.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister said that Ho Chi Minh City aims for double-digit growth, so the volume of goods transported is forecast to be very large, so it needs additional wharves for Can Gio port and Cai Mep Ha port; at the same time, develop inland waterway wharves connecting with Gemalink port.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister suggested that Ho Chi Minh City study and prioritize the allocation of public investment capital for investment and bidding for leasing specialized wharves to receive passenger ships in order to exploit tourism potential. In particular, it is necessary to divide the segments to receive passenger ships. Specifically, the front beach of Ba Ria - Vung Tau receives the largest number of ships; Mui Den Do receives ships with a capacity of 60,000 tons; Ben Nghe and Tan Thuan receive passenger ships with a capacity of less than 30,000 tons.<\/p>\n
