Saigon Port Labor Delegation Conference 2025
On the morning of January 10, 2025, Saigon Port Joint Stock Company (Saigon Port) successfully organized the 2025 Employee Delegates Conference at the company headquarters hall.
The conference took place with the presence of 95 delegates, especially the participation of the leaders of Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC - the unit holding 65,45% of controlling capital of Saigon Port): Mr. Le Quang Trung - Deputy General Director, Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Huong - Vice President of the Trade Union. On the side of Saigon Port, there were Mr. Huynh Van Cuong - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Nguyen Le Chon Tam - General Director and leaders of the Party and Union of the company also attended.

Although there are still many difficulties in 2024, with the efforts of the entire Board of Directors and employees, Saigon Port's production and business results are very positive, all basic KPI targets are completed and VIMC commended for production results at the VIMC Trade Union Summary Conference on January 6, 2025. In 2024, Saigon Port won the Third Prize - Kaizen Silver 2024 with 143 initiatives with a total value of VND 8.16 billion. However, there are some KPI targets of Saigon Port that have not been completed related to the Can Gio project and the divestment of companies with contributed capital is not on schedule.
According to Mr. Nguyen Le Chon Tam - General Director of Saigon Port, in general, the 6 branches and affiliated units in 2024 achieved good results, especially the Saigon Port Branch - Tan Thuan Port, followed by the Saigon Port Maritime Service Center. The 3 joint venture areas all made profits: the spectacular turnaround of CMIT after 2 years of losses, in 2024, it made a profit of 3.6 billion; the efforts of SP-PSA brought in profits, SSIT completed the plan and paid off all debts. Companies with contributed capital in 2024 improved service quality, innovated operating models, and promoted divestment activities.
Implementing restructuring according to the decision of the Corporation, in 2024, the Board of Directors and the Executive Board of Saigon Port have implemented a screening test to rearrange the human resource management apparatus and will soon provide additional soft skills training for a number of key positions in departments.
In 2025, Saigon Port will complete the transfer of the operation of the Saigon Port - Hiep Phuoc Port area to Saigon - Hiep Phuoc Port Joint Stock Company (a subsidiary of Saigon Port); build, deploy and operate 6 branches into 4 operation centers, promote tourism exploitation, warehouse leasing, coordinate with the City to deploy night-time economic tourism, and prepare infrastructure and equipment when Thu Thiem 4 bridge is built.
In the context of the world political situation that may fluctuate in 2025, geopolitical conflicts affecting global economic activities will also affect the port exploitation business. Facing these difficulties and challenges, the Board of Directors of Saigon Port is determined to complete the 2025 plan assigned by the Corporation in the spirit of innovation, comprehensive restructuring and joint efforts.

The conference also heard the representative of the Technical Department report on the implementation of the 2024 Safety - Health - Labor Environment work and the Finance and Accounting Department report on the situation of funds in 2024. At the same time, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trinh Nguyen - President of the Union also reported on the situation of policies for employees in 2024. The Union coordinated with specialized departments to organize 5 meetings to disseminate information so that employees understand the general policy of Saigon Port and together with the Board of Directors agreed on a good level of support for employees.
Saigon Port Trade Union together with the Corporation Trade Union presented gifts to employees who voluntarily resigned in the first phase (September 2024). Through 2 campaigns, up to now, Saigon Port has resolved policies for 109 employees who voluntarily resigned, with a total support amount of over 20 billion VND.
Currently, Saigon Port is continuing to implement steps to arrange operating units according to the centralized management model, and to establish labor quotas according to the new model. During the year, Saigon Port continues to purchase 24/24 accident insurance for all employees, and the regimes for sickness, maternity, work-related accidents, occupational diseases, and regimes for female employees are ensured to be implemented in accordance with regulations. Regarding the labor protection regime, health care for employees is implemented in accordance with the Labor Law, providing adequate personal protective equipment according to the functions of the profession.
All employees receive regular health check-ups, with an additional list of health check-ups exceeding the regulations. The union has effectively implemented the work of taking care of the material and spiritual life of employees, supporting units to organize more than 300 trips for employees to visit and relax in accordance with the actual conditions and situation of the unit, encouraging the employees' spirit. In particular, in 2024, employees who are direct employees and workers will be able to visit Korea.
Saigon Port's leaders gave gifts to all female employees on the occasions of March 8 and October 20, creating an exciting spirit, showing the concern of the unit's leaders in taking care of the material and spiritual life of employees. All employees received gifts on the occasion of New Year's Day, Lunar New Year, and on their birthdays. More than 600 children of employees received gifts on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, received Nguyen Duc Canh scholarships for excellent academic achievements... The total general cost of the Union to take care of employees in 2024 is 3,260,000,000 VND.

Next, the Conference also listened to representatives of leaders of departments and units (Human Resources Department, Business Department, Technical Department, Saigon Port Maritime Service Center) presenting their speeches related to issues of exploitation under the centralized management model and restructuring of personnel.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Le Quang Trung - Deputy General Director of VIMC also gave many words of praise, congratulations and appreciation for the efforts of the Saigon Port staff who contributed to VIMC's achievements in the past year. In 2024, with many difficulties and challenges, the Board of Directors and employees have united to work together to comprehensively restructure, all targets exceeded from 14 - 15%, workers' lives have improved, joint ventures have gone from loss to profit and there are 10 new service routes.
At the same time, Mr. Trung directed a number of important tasks related to production and business activities in 2025: Saigon - Hiep Phuoc Port develops a warehouse system for agricultural products, develops ro-ro shipping services; maintains the trust of investors and customers; one of the particularly important projects is the Can Gio project, Kaizen digital transformation... The Corporation will always accompany Saigon Port in the near future.
For workers, in order not to waste resources, each worker must be responsible for each other, be the center of Kaizen, complete their work, help each other and contribute to Saigon Port and VIMC. With a leading role, VIMC Trade Union will continue to implement solutions to improve the quality of workers in terms of work, life, environment and construction, organize emulation campaigns to accompany development to new heights.

The conference also acknowledged the contribution of Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Huong - Vice President of VIMC Trade Union. 2024 is a relatively difficult year in the general context not only for VIMC but also for Saigon Port when it strongly restructures, makes provisions, incurs large costs, digital transformation, etc., but Saigon Port still achieves its targets, workers' income increases compared to 2023, which was recognized by the Corporation's Trade Union and awarded a certificate of merit at the recent VIMC Trade Union Summary Conference.

There are still many difficulties in 2025, establishing new center models, digital transformation, and restructuring work continues to be implemented. The Corporation's Trade Union hopes that the Board of Directors and the Company's Party Committee will pay attention to the interests of union members and employees; the Executive Board of the Trade Union will accompany the employees, ensuring that the employees' aspirations are always resolved and answered promptly, so that production and business activities are guaranteed to be on schedule. Ms. Huong also thanked the Saigon Port Board of Directors for their timely responses in the discussion report, explaining the recommendations as well as integrating them into the discussions for all union members and employees to know about the restructuring changes as well as the upcoming business activities of Saigon Port, thereby helping employees understand better to feel comfortable mentally and accompany the company.
Regarding the key tasks of the Corporation's Trade Union in 2025, focus on implementing the Resolutions of the Trade Union Congresses at all levels, concretizing the annual work program; taking care of the At Ty Tet holiday for employees, creating conditions for employees to participate in the 3-region Cultural and Art Festival, and propagating to employees the revised Trade Union Law...
Mr. Huynh Van Cuong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saigon Port respectfully thanked the Corporation for its close guidance. Saigon Port will accept and be determined to invest in equipment, complete infrastructure, software systems, and warehouses. On this occasion, Mr. Cuong thanked the employees for joining hands to help Saigon Port achieve the achievements it has today and called for the consensus of all employees to exceed the assigned targets so that the income growth target is higher than other targets.

At the end of the Conference, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor's reward decisions were announced. The Vietnam Maritime Trade Union awarded the "Excellent Emulation Flag" in 2024 to the Saigon Port Joint Stock Company and awarded certificates of merit to individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement in 2024.

At the same time, many individuals, units and departments of Saigon Port were also awarded many forms of commendation for their outstanding achievements in 2024. The four outstanding collectives of 2024 include Tan Thuan Port, Saigon Port Branch in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Saigon Port Maritime Service Center, and Ship Tugboat Enterprise.
