Saigon Port promotes the integration of the port ecosystem, strategically partnering with VIMC.
On May 22, 2026, Mr. Nguyen Le Chon Tam – General Director of Saigon Port Joint Stock Company (Saigon Port) and the Board of Directors, in coordination with the leadership of Saigon Gateway Port Joint Stock Company (SGT), visited, worked with, and inspected the operational situation at Saigon Port International Container Services Joint Venture Company Limited – SSA (SSIT).
The visit demonstrates the close attention of Saigon Port's leadership to the operations of the joint venture. Through this, the parties exchanged views on coordinating market development, improving operational efficiency, and implementing the overall business strategy of Vietnam Maritime Corporation – JSC (VIMC).

SSIT is currently a joint venture between VIMC, Saigon Port, and SSA Marine (USA), invested according to international standards with a modern equipment system capable of receiving large container ships. In the first quarter of 2026, SSIT achieved a throughput of over 183,000 TEU, an increase of 471 TP3T compared to the same period in 2025 – the highest growth rate in the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port cluster. Besides maintaining throughput growth, SSIT is also promoting the application of technology, optimizing operational processes, investing in additional operational equipment, and gradually moving towards a smart port and green port model to meet the development needs of the new phase.

During the working session, the delegation directly surveyed the wharf area, container yards, and operational equipment systems, and listened to reports on the production and business situation, international mother vessel operations, logistics connectivity, and solutions to enhance competitiveness in the future.

The parties also focused on exchanging views on strengthening linkages within the entire Saigon Port – VIMC ecosystem, particularly in coordinating customer acquisition, connecting logistics service chains, sharing resources, and developing service routes to improve the overall system's operational efficiency. This is considered a crucial direction in the context of the maritime and logistics industry undergoing a strong shift towards integrated supply chains and increased connectivity between seaports.
Speaking at the meeting, the leaders of Saigon Port emphasized the need for units to continue to promote a proactive spirit, strengthen coordination in operation, exploitation and market development; and at the same time closely follow VIMC's overall development strategy, aiming to build a modern, synchronized and internationally competitive port and logistics ecosystem.
